Anglian Water: Protecting a Vital Resource for a Greener Planet

Working alongside likeminded businesses in our local community is key to Skyview’s carbon reduction and sustainability strategy, and there are few companies that we are more proud to serve than awarding-winning Anglian Water.  A partnership forged in 2012 - Skyview provides vital monitoring equipment, services and associated data to some 30 Anglian Water sites, allowing site teams to meet the European Water Framework Directive’s ambitious targets, as well as a host of other safety and legislative requirements.

- Anglian Water - Protecting Our Environment

The Challenge

Operating in one of the driest regions in the UK, with an extensive coastline and low lying land, the East of England is particularly vulnerable to climate change. Monitoring real time weather conditions, as well as having the ability to analyse historical data is crucial to the successful operation of each individual water and water recycling site, in order to comply with strict site permits and to ensure safe operations.

With a number of different locations to consider and an ever expanding network, our skilled engineers assessed each site, and took on board individual requirements to roll out a programme of installations to meet stringent legislative demands, whilst minimising the impact of negative environmental factors, such as odour pollution, on the surrounding communities.

Our Solution

With over 30 years’ experience in the water and waste water sectors, and a solid understanding of the framework under which a company the size of Anglian Water must operate, our skilled operations team has been working in partnership, installing GPRS weather monitoring solutions across a growing network of 30 sites over the past 8 years. Critical weather data including wind speed, wind direction, temperature, humidity, wind chill, dew point, rainfall and barometric pressure are all monitored in real-time  using precision sensors.

Data is disseminated from each weather station to Skyview’s dedicated online weather monitoring portal, Skylink-pro, where the management teams at each Anglian Water site can use our partner-site function to access data such as current weather; wind rose graphs; 5-day forecast and historical data from multiple Anglian Water locations at any given time, allowing for effective site planning.

Our engineers return to each site on an annual basis to fully service each individual system to ensure accurate performance and provide detailed calibration certificates for IPPC compliance.
